Quilts & Photography by Trudy Cleveland

Virtual Meetings With Zoom

May 15, 2020 | virtual meetings

We are in a new era that includes social distancing.

But social distancing doesn’t mean social isolation.

I love visiting different guilds and demonstrating how important photography is to quilting. We might not be able to meet in person, but it doesn’t mean we can’t meet virtually, as in a Zoom format.

My topics that I offer to guilds:

“Shoot Your Quilt” and ” How To Upgrade Your Quilt Toolbox” can be presented “In-Person” or in a “Virtual Format”. My  presentation gives practical tips that that can be used by every quilter. The format is a power point presentation with a trunk show, followed by a question and answer period.

My workshop, “How To Edit Photographs With your Smartphone” also can be done as a virtual presentation. It is very interactive with practical information. No supply list or sewing machine needed!

Any questions just contact me and we can talk about how I can customize a presentation  for your guild… virtual or in-person.

Quilts + Photography

October 8, 2019 | Binding, Light, Photography

Beautiful Light!

While placing the binding on my quilt “Spring Fling” I realized the light was at the perfect angle, just grazing across the quilt. The texture of the quilting was being displayed in perfect light.I couldn’t help but stop and take a picture…with my iPhone. No expensive equipment, no special editing. The lighting did all the work.  Once you “See The Light” you can’t help but stop and take a picture.

Apple Doesn’t Fall Far From The Tree

3rd Birthday
Apple Doesn’t Fall Far From The Tree

I found this image while cleaning out my childhood home. I knew it existed, but hadn’t seen it in many years. It was such a exciting moment when it resurfaced. And, had special meaning for me since I have been become so involved in the photography of quilts. My mother made my dress on her new Singer, she was a self taught seamstress, and loved making dresses for special occasions. My father dabbled in photography, both developing  and printing negatives from his Yashica camera. To me this validates my journey in Quilting and Photography, and made me think the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree!
